What 3D Printed Earrings Cost in India, and Why
Our pairs are ₹99, ₹149, ₹199, ₹249, ₹349, ₹499, ₹699 or ₹999. Most are ₹99 or ₹149. Here is what decides which, and what else you pay.
What sets the price of a pair
- Material. A pair uses between one and twenty grams of filament. At Indian filament prices that is a few rupees to a few tens of rupees; it is the smallest part of the price.
- Printer time. A small stud prints in a quarter of an hour; a large multi-part or articulated design can take two. The printer's time is the largest cost.
- Hand work. Every pair is lifted, cleaned of support material, checked, and fitted with hooks or posts. Filigree and multi-part designs take longer.
- Pairs per order. Some designs come as two, three or four pairs in one order, and are priced for the set.
- The design licence. Every design is licensed from its creator; that is built into the price and credited on the page.
Shipping
Shipping is worked out from your pincode at checkout, by India Post from New Delhi. Within Delhi NCR it is the local rate; elsewhere in India the national rate. Above ₹749 it is free. Because a pair weighs a few grams, a second or third pair in the same parcel adds very little.
Why printed costs less than cast
A cast earring needs a mould, a metal, polishing and plating, and a stock of finished pieces waiting to be sold. A printed earring needs a design file, a spool and an hour of a machine's time, and is made only after someone has bought it. No stock, no mould, no metal: that is the whole difference, and it is why an intricate filigree drop that would cost thousands in silver is ₹149 here.
What you are not paying for
Precious metal, so a printed pair is not an investment and does not pretend to be. Weight, which is the point. And returns handling: because every pair is printed to order in your colour, orders are not returnable once printing begins, except when a pair arrives damaged or wrong, in which case we reprint or refund. See shipping and returns.
Where to look
Everything under ₹150 is most of the shop: start with studs and drops. The pricier pairs are the large multi-part designs in Halloween and Christmas. For what the earrings are made of and how they wear, read the guide.
